CAPABILITIESThe SSRL offers a variety of services to meet client needs, including: Telephone surveysThe SSRL currently maintains a 35-station interviewing facility equipped with Sawtooth WinCati software. CATI increases interviewing accuracy, quality and performance by computerizing the interviewing process. The CATI system selects and dials telephone numbers from the sample, tracks and tallies outcomes, captures response data, processes complex question skip patterns, schedules and tracks call back appointments, and screens invalid response codes. CATI also offers the ability to design screens that use multiple colors and highlighted instructions to reduce interviewer error. To ensure quality control over the interviewing process, supervisors unobtrusively monitor interviews in progress using a specially designed digital telephone system. Remote monitoring is also available to clients upon request. Mail surveysThe SSRL has over 10 years experience with self-administered mail surveys. Surveys are formatted to provide respondents clear instructions for completion and nonrespondents are sent follow-up reminders at the client’s request. Online surveysThe SSRL currently uses Vovici for conducting all online surveys. Vovici allows us to automate skips and use data validation checks to reduce response error. This software also provides extensive invitation services including multiple mailing lists, email campaigns, scheduled invitations and security gateways. Our web surveys include a variety of question and response formats, and we can customize surveys to client specifications using custom color schemes, layouts, and client logos. Multi-Mode surveysSSRL staff have conducted several studies using multiple modes, with good success. Depending upon the population of interest, we can implement a variety of data collection modes, and recommend a data collection strategy we believe will afford the maximum response rate for your study.
