FACILITIES

The SSRL is located on the San Diego State University campus in the Professional Studies and Fine Arts building with the main offices in PSFA 166. The SSRL currently operates 35 interviewing stations. We continually upgrade our interviewing computers. Currently, we are using Dell Pentium 4 and Pentium D machines. Each interviewing computer is equipped with a dial-up modem allowing for the use of accurate auto-dialing. All stations also include a Dell flat-panel monitor, a Plantronics headset and a standard phone for hand dialing when appropriate.

The backbone of our CATI system is Sawtooth Technologies’ WinCATI 4.1. Our CATI system runs off of a dedicated Dell PowerEdge 2800 server running Novell 6.5. All data is kept on the server for redundancy and security purposes. Security of our data begins with an uninterruptable power supply for the server. We use a RAID-5 disk array for real-time redundancy. For added data proection, we use a Dell PowerVault 132T tape backup taken daily. Tapes are then secured offsite for further security.
