Project Title:
ModernSpace New Student Union Project Survey, 2009
Client:
Associated Students of San Diego State University
Goals:
- to assess familiarity with and use of the current Aztec Center,
- to assess familiarity with the ModernSpace Project and efforts to improve Aztec Center,
- to assess support for various proposed elements of an improved Center, and
- to assess overall support for a new Aztec Center Student Union project.
Project Description:
An email invitation containing a link to the web survey was sent by Enrollment Services to 32,628 current SDSU students. A total of 3,679 SDSU students responded to the survey.

Project Title:
San Diego County LGBT Community Substance Abuse and HIV Community Readiness Assessment
Client:
Family Health Centers of San Diego
Goals:
- to assess the degree to which the San Diego LGBT community is aware of substance abuse as a risk factor for HIV,
- to assess the degree and manner in which the LGBT community is prepared to take action on substance abuse as a risk factor for HIV,
- to assist in identifying community strengths and weaknesses in substance abuse and HIV prevention efforts,
- to inform strategic planning efforts around substance abuse as a risk factor for HIV, and
- to promote community input, engagement, and coalition building to address substance abuse as a risk factor for HIV within the LGBT community.
Project Description:
This project consisted of a series of 40 Key Informant Interviews from among the LGBT community and a survey of 393 community members. The Key Informant Interviews were conducted by telephone; the community survey was available on 6 different web sites, and was publicized via emails to key LGBT organizations, in the Gay and Lesbian Times, and via an email blast from Rage Magazine and SDPIX. The survey was also distributed in a hard copy self-administered form to various providers throughout the county. Both the self-administered and the web version of the community survey were available in Spanish and English.
